Washington Trust Presents 2019 Team Leadership Award

Stonington and Westerly student athletes honored during Thanksgiving football game
Westerly, RI – December 2, 2019 - On Thursday, November 28th, The Washington Trust Company presented the 2019 “Washington Trust Team Leadership Award” to Antonio Reale of Stonington High School and Rocco Cillino of Westerly High School as part of the annual Westerly High School vs. Stonington High School Thanksgiving Day football game. The annual “Washington Trust Team Leadership Award” celebrates those students who are dedicated to their teammates, continually possess and maintain a positive attitude, and exhibit team spirit. Reale and Cillino were selected by their coaches for serving as positive role models, loyal sportsmen, and leaders on their respective teams and in their community.
Both senior athletes are held in high regard by their respective coaches and peers, and have created a legacy of hard work both on and off the field. Stonington High Football Coach Adrian Massengale nominated Reale based on his positive attitude and perseverance. “Antonio has led the team by treating setback as an opportunity to grow, get better, and find another way to get the job done,” said Massengale. Duane Maranda, Westerly High Football Coach, nominated Rocco Cillino for the Washington Trust Team Leadership Award because of his high academic ranking, athletic ability, and his sportsmanship. “He is as tough a player as I have coached and is selfless when it comes to doing anything needed for his team to succeed,” said Maranda.
This year’s awards were presented by Paul Moon, Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager at Washington Trust’s Westerly McQuade’s office.
