Meet Joy Rich, owner of Flowerthyme LLC in Wakefield!
For over 20 years, Joy Rich has been beautifying special events and weddings with her ‘natural approach to flowers with an English garden flair.’
Joy graduated from the URI Plant and Soil Sciences program in 1983, and opened Flowerthyme right after graduation. She enjoys using her talent to work with couples and create arrangements for romantic weddings throughout New England. The Flowerthyme retail shop also offers flowers for every occasion, including daily flower deliveries, holiday bouquets, and beautiful funeral tributes.
She tells us she loves working in Rhode Island and being a part of a community where business owners work together. Joy knows the importance of local small businesses, and partners with growers in the area to buy her flowers.
Joy has a great relationship with Washington Trust, where she’s had a line of credit for years. She also used Washington Trust to process Flowerthyme’s PPP loan during COVID.
With 20 years of providing flowers for weddings, she has a lot of stories! She jokes that she should write a comical wedding book. A fun fact about Joy is that she met Jackson Brown and Quincy Jones while doing flowers for a wedding in Newport!
